Starfucker - Biography

Portland’s STRFKR is a four-piece electro band with a stage show almost as colorful as its name. Vocalist Joshua Hodges (keyboards, guitar, drums) formed the band as a solo project in 2007, and over time was joined by the current lineup of Shawn Glassford (bass, keyboards, drums), Keil Corcoran (drums, keyboards, vocals), and Patrick Morris (guitar, keyboard, vocals). The group is known for its raucous live performances featuring multiple drummers, stage diving, instrument swapping, light shows, Glassford’s penchant for dressing up in women’s clothing--and sometimes even robots.

In 2008, Starfucker, as they were then known, released their debut album, Starfucker, on the Badman Recording Co. label, winning some mainstream notoriety after the track "Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second" was used in a Target commercial and on the Showtime series Weeds. A mere eight months after the release of their debut came 2009’s Jupiter, and in 2011 the band partnered with Polyvinyl for the first time with the release of Reptilians. As their success grew, the members of Starfucker debated changing the band’s name, eventually choosing the more stylized STRFKR for 2013’s Miracle Mile (Polyvinyl).
