Peanut Butter Wolf - Biography
Peanut Butter Wolf (a.k.a. Chris Manak) is a DJ, producer, record collector, and founder of Stones Throw Records. Manak took the moniker "Peanut Butter Wolf" in the late '80s. He was the DJ/producer for Charizma in San Jose, CA until 1993 when Charizma was killed at age 20. After taking a break from music, Wolf started Stones Throw Records in 1996 in the Bay Area. Charizma’s posthumous single “My World Premiere” launched the label. Stones Throw, which moved to Los Angeles in 2000, has released albums by Madlib, Aloe Blacc, J Dilla, James Pants, Mayer Hawthorne, and many more. In December 2011, Stones Throw celebrated its 15th anniversary.
