I don't really care or believe to much in genres but I can say that as a means to end its useful. If you take anything from me its to not be closed minded with music.

Tyler the Creator
This is one of Tyler's best projects to date. Even though I can appreciate the braggadocio lyrics written on his last project Call me When You Get Lost. I believe that this is his most serious and ambitious project to date.

Charm (LP)
Clairo
Clairo has gone through many sounds and shifts in her career but this is seems to be a area she is comfortable in. Although she has many pop sensibilities the smooth jazz bops and soulful rhythms on this one put this project a cut above the rest especially the title track Juna.

Why lawd? (LP)
NxWorries
The wait for this new NxWorries album has been a long one. Ever since their first project Yes lawd! the electrifying duo left us hanging for almost a decade. However, this most recent release surprised all of us with a much more introspective but just as nasty if not more so Anderson Paak. Ruminating on subjects like divorce, infidelity and making bare the crisis of a late 30 something year old man.

We Don't Trust You (LP)
Future
Keeping with the spirit of duos these two are back for more bangers and one of the most consequential rap disses to ever be dropped. Besides the speaker rumbling beats featured on here future delivers his classic leaned out shades on in the club bars with a touch of his usual silliness.

Erika de Casier
Erika has always brought a 90's vibe that was very reminiscent of rnb classics like Aaliyah, Brandy, Alicia keys and many others. On this latest she shifts for a more modern sound but still drenched in 90s melodies with modern 808 and drum patterns.

Amoeba Hollywood
Well. 2025 is in session. Shaky times. You know when there's an earthquake and once you realize it's not the big one, you're struck by how tenuous everything suddenly feels? I feel that way spiritually. My heart is broken for all the families that lost so much in the fires. That week in the store, listening to music was a balm for my soul. I reached back for my standbys and they did not disappoint. Comfort is a precious thing.
Every time I make a MWL entry, I talk about how grateful I am to get to be with the folks who make Amoeba a part of their lives. And every time it's true. Thank you to everyone.
Please remember that the process of trying to rebuild a life after your home has been destroyed is a long and painful one. Go Fund Me is still full of people who need help. Nothing is too small. Please consider picking a person or family to support.

Lady Gaga
I’m excited for the new Lady Gaga. That video drop during the Grammys was so great! The dancing for it along with Doechii’s performance on the actual Grammys showcased a new (to me) type of body language that is really exciting to watch. The category truly is dance or die. Joy is resistance!

Heartache in Room 14 (LP)
The Altons
The Altons did an in-store at Amoeba and low-key wowed the spot. From Southeast L.A. this band is simmering to a boil. “Heartache in Room 14,” their debut album feels like an instant classic. It’s got the backyard BBQ timelessness and that type of melancholy soul that sounds “effortless” because it comes from such an authentic place, but is forged by the blood, sweat and tears of holding onto your vision. I felt so lucky to get a chance to see such a dynamic vibe. I know their story is just beginning.

I Don't Wanna Win (LP)
The Holy Knives
Born and raised in New Orleans, now living in Los Angeles, with some time in Texas, The Holy Knives create music that provides a portal into their world. Under the guidance of Jamie Hince (The Kills), The Holy Knives worked to string together the sounds of each piece of their journey, weaving in a bit of the dark swagger of New Orleans, with a few nods to desert psychedelia and the chopped and screwed of Texas, it’s got atmosphere for days. Check out their EP “I Don’t Wanna Win.” It’s available on vinyl right here at Amoeba!

Everything Must Go (LP)
Goose
Goose is constantly challenging the age-old notion of Jambands having an inability to translate their sound well to a studio setting. Their newest release, Everything Must Go, is a journey in sonic perfection, outstanding songwriting, and intelligent lyricism. Rick Mitarotonda’s soaring guitar allows him to stand out as one of the premier players of this generation, while the stellar musicianship of the rest of the band cements this album as nothing short of a masterpiece. The lead single off the album, “Give It Time” is going to be the next song comin’ on the radio just when you need it all summer. So turn it up, and let it go with Everything Must Go!

Solitude
Patrice Scott
Certified Detroit deep soldier Patrice Scott comes through on his own Sistrum imprint with his first solo 12" in years, and it was worth the wait.
"Solitude" features a heartbreaking piano solo, and a mean bassline gluing the tense chord work together, with relentless undulating percussion. An instant classic IMO. B side is good too.

You Can't Unsee Me (LP)
The Abstract Eye
LA based electro luminary Gabriel Reyes aka Gifted & Blessed returns to his The Abstract Eye moniker, a personal favorite since 2011's "Cool Warm Divine" EP, with a new double LP.
GB has been doing his thing for quite a while now, and while more recent releases have often taken a more experimental turn, here we see a bit of a return to a more dancefloor orientation while retaining his unique balance of palpable consciousness, spirituality, and sensuality rarely heard in any form of modern electronic music.

Faded Caprice (LP)
E.R.P.
Gerard Hanson, better known as Convextion is an artist that has earned their status among the most revered names in techno and electro.
On "Faded Caprice" as E.R.P. (Event Related Potential for the uninitiated) Hanson's basslines and arrangements shine on this double LP that deftly blends elements of both his more dub techno and hardcore electro production styles. Essential listening for fans of music with atmosphere that doesn't neglect attitude.

Laura Nyro
Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Laura Nyro wrote gospel and blues-inspired rhapsodies about the humdrum unfurlings of everyday lives, elevating them to sermon-like tiny epics. They were hits for other major '60s artists, while Nyro watched from the sidelines. But her words have since proven to continually resonate, with no finish line in sight. That's the ultimate victory for an artist routinely relegated to the backdrop.

Silvertone (LP)
Chris Isaak
You've got The Wild One poster pinned to your bedroom wall, no frame. Tight white Ts line your closet with the sleeves short. A neon sign from the Ed Hopper diner across the street pulses, bleeding past your blinds while you lay on your bed, smoking a Lucky Strike and crying, one tear, because the girl you love isn't real, just like the rest of your persona. You can blame Silvertone for that. Or hasn't anyone told you? James Dean died more than half a century ago.
