Mount Kimbie - Biography

The term “post-dubstep” gets bandied about often in regards to Warp Records duo Mount Kimbie, who combine distorted vocals, garage-influenced percussion and warm, wistful synths. The London-based duo of Kai Campos and Dom Maker met in the residence halls at Southbank University, and soon started crafting songs together at a home studio. After the band’s debut performance at a church in Oslo, Campos and Maker began touring more frequently and creating the tracks that would become their first album, 2010’s Crooks and Lovers (Hotflush Recordings).

Mount Kimbie are close associates of Grammy-nominated electronic producer James Blake, who contributed to the duo’s debut, remixed the track “Maybes” off their EP Remixes Part 1, and played with them live early on. In 2012, Campos and Maker signed to Warp Records and toured North America with Squarepusher. A year later came the critically-acclaimed sophomore full-length, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth (Warp Records), featuring King Krule on two tracks and for which Mount Kimbie toured extensively throughout Europe and the US. In addition to creating their own music, they have produced remixes for The xx, Foals, The Big Pink, Kelis, and Andreya Triana.
