Allen Toussaint - Biography



Allen Toussaint  is a giant in the field of  popular music, an important architect of the early sound of rock n roll, R&B, and soul music- working with artists as diverse as Lee Dorsey, Dr. John, Frankie Miller, Elvis Costello and too many more to name. Wrote many popular songs, including "Java" (No. 1 for Al Hirt in 1964) and "Southern Nights" (No. 1 for Glen Campbell in 1977). Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. He died of a heart attack November 10, 2015.
