Amoeba Review
08/31/2020
Few bands have the power to bring it like Staten Island’s The Budos Band. On their fifth album, V, the band sounds raw, dark, and funkier than ever. The band creates atmosphere — with a capital “A” — unlike anything else you’ll hear this year. Urban, soulful, and vaguely dangerous, the album is full of twist and turns, with serpentine melodies you can happily get lost in. Brood away the day to the talented players’ Ethiopian-inspired beats, fuzz-heavy guitars, and slinky, noir city horns.
