Thin Mind (CD)
Wolf Parade

Wolf Parade teamed up with producer John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, Unwound) for a second time on the ambitious, timely Thin Mind. The album’s title refers to the effect of contemporary civilization’s nonstop online barrage of the senses and how this makes us easily distracted and anxious while simultaneously allowing our brains to hyper-evolve their processing and interpreting capabilities. This theme is present at all times in the lyrics, whether the band is singing about Lovecraftian love affairs (“Against the Day”) or an exaggeratedly uncool party guy version of singer/keyboardist Spencer Krug. Despite its topical nature, Thin Mind has a timeless quality, drawing equally from ‘80s synth bops and forward-thinking modern sounds. The end result is that Wolf Parade sounds fresher than ever, on an album that’s got real staying power.
