Swimming Lessons (CD)
The Skints
Amoeba Review
08/10/2020
Anyone who says it has all been done before clearly hasn’t heard The Skints. On their eclectic fourth album, Swimming Lessons, the London four-piece blends indie, electronic, ragga, pop-punk, rap, reggae, and soul. They’ve certainly got a distinctive and intriguing sound with which they take on topics like Brexit, heartbreak, and the generally bizarre experience of life in 2019. Standout moments include contributions from a handful of Jamaica’s brightest young stars, including Grammy-nominated reggae artist Protoje, freestyler Runkus, and soulful reggae vocalist Jesse Royal. From upbeat ragga jams to dreamy, reflective moments of indie electronica, adventurous music fans will want to dive into Swimming Lessons.
