On Solutions, K. Flay's follow-up to her breakout debut, she enlisted Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds as co-writer to polish up her sunny hybrid of electro-pop and pop/rap, featuring her slightly husky but sweet vocals. “This Baby Don't Cry” is a fun, quirky number with handclaps and funky guitar on the bridge; in “Bad Vibes,” a slinky electronic groove builds into a club-ready chorus. The excellent “Sister” calls to mind something by Lorde, with its darker-yet-upbeat electronic dance beat. “Not In California” is another highlight - a buzzy rocker with simple synths on the chorus and a catchy melody.
