Alt-pop group MUNA's new record, Saves The World, deals with personal demons such as drug addiction and suicide as well as heartache. The trio mixes ubiquitous autotuned vocals with '80s pop beats and synths, creating an off-kilter sound that dips into James Blake territory on tracks like “Memento” and swoons accessibly on “It's Gonna Be Okay, Baby.” “Never” is especially well-crafted with its sweeter, clear vocals, its abrupt dives into a dark dancefloor beat and unexpected guitar solos. It unravels into more and more distortion and electronic fuzz in an outcry of emotion representative of the whole album.
