Walk4ALZ Goes Virtual 10/10
LIke many of you, our friends and family are among the 250,000+ people living with Alzheimer’s in Los Angeles. We have seen firsthand how Alzheimer's doesn't stop when there's a pandemic and how critical services like those offered by the amazing folks at Alzheimer's Los Angeles are during this time of crisis. That's why we are proud to support the Walk4ALZ Goes Virtual celebration on Saturday, October 10th.
Join the Amoeba team here and help make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's! You can walk virtually with us or simply donate, if you prefer.
We had so much fun at last year's Walk4ALZ event, but COVID-19 has made it impossible for us to all be together in person this year. However we can show up for a virtual walk! With a virtual walk, each of us commits to doing a physical activity like walking, jogging or bike riding in our own neighborhoods. Anything that we can do safely by ourselves, with our pets or with family and friends while raising money for Alzheimer’s LA. The great thing about a virtual walk is that we can do this activity at any time from anywhere leading up to October 10th. Then tune in on Saturday, October 10th at 10am PT for the Walk4ALZ Goes Virtual celebration featuring families, caregivers, a DJ set from our very own Monalisa and lots more.
Be sure to share a photo while you're doing your physical activity and tag @AlzheimersLA on social media. You could be featured in the virtual celebration on October 10th!
Your best furry friend wants in on the action too! Your dog or cat can join our team. Don't forget to share a picture of your pup (or both of you) out on a walk. Tag @amoebahollywood on Instagram and use the hashtag #dogsofamoeba.
The COVID-19 Safer at Home order has had a dramatic effect on older adults who are being asked to stay indoors to lower their risk of exposure. Caregiving for a person with dementia is hard and exhausting, physically, emotionally, and financially. Even under the best of circumstances, families often struggle to provide day-to-day care for a person with Alzheimer’s. Now COVID-19 has disrupted routines and turned care into a potential nightmare for families. in response, Alzheimer’s LA has adjusted so they can provide the critical care families need right now, introducing virtual support groups, tip sheets for caregivers, activities to do at home, educational programs & more. They need our help now more than ever so they can continue to offer these valuable services and support during this incredibly challenging time.
Join the Amoeba team here and help make a difference for so many families impacted by Alzheimer's and dementia in Los Angeles. This is SO important. PLEASE JOIN US and MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
