Did you know that new voter registrations have declined in the U.S. since the onset of the pandemic? The November 3rd presidential election is coming up fast and it’s more important than ever to make sure we’re registered to vote and to encourage our friends and family to register too. Registering to vote online is super easy and takes just a few moments.
You may think you're already registered, but it's a good idea to double check. If you've moved recently and your DMV record has an old address, or if you do not have an in-state ID, or you have changed your name you must register to vote. Check your registration status online here.
Every state has its own policies and deadlines, and many are making changes to adjust to COVID-19 concerns. In California, the registration deadline for the general election is October 19th. Due to COVID-19, all registered voters in California will receive a ballot to vote-by-mail for the Nov. 3rd election. County elections offces will begin sending vote-by-mail ballots to CA voters beginning October 5th.
To help keep things safe for voters and election workers, consider voting early (many locations will be open for at least 4 days beginning the Saturday before Election Day) or skipping the line by dropping off a completed ballot at a secure ballot drop box or voting location.
