Nobody fuses glamour and gloom quite like Drab Majesty. On their latest, Modern Mirror, Deb Demure and Mona D. churn out more reliably excellent post-punk hits featuring rapturous synth washes, reverb-heavy guitars, and intelligent, intriguing lyrics. The duo trade off vocal duties; Demure carries the hypnotic “Long Division” while Mona D. intrigues on the poignant “Oxytocin.” The elegant, melancholy Modern Mirror deserves a place on the turntables of discerning post-punk enthusiasts.
