Amoeba Review
08/04/2020
Raphael Saadiq, the R&B prodigy with the old school soul, is back with his first album in eight years, Jimmy Lee. Drawing from the best of old and new, Saadiq's record takes influences from the creme of the last forty years of soul and creates a sound both nostalgic and fresh. "So Ready" is a Stevie Wonder-esque smooth jam, with shimmery ethereal instrumentation and tight bass, while "Something Keeps Calling" could be our next quiet storm anthem. "Glory To The Veins" is a chilling, dark, and subtly psychedelic look into the opioid epidemic and addiction.
