CHAMPION (LP)
Bishop Briggs

Bishop Briggs proves she’s no one-album-wonder with her excellent sophomore album, Champion. It’s an appropriate name for an album in which the Canadian pop starlet takes on heartbreak and disappointment, spinning personal devastations into triumphant, empowered bangers. This is an artist who isn’t shy about baring her soul and digging into its darker recesses. So yes, the album’s an emotional rollercoaster, but when her lyrics get painful, there’s always a bold, anthemic chorus to inspire a defiant, fist-in-the-air attitude. No one’s gonna keep Bishop Briggs down, not when Champion is here to take on the world.
