Blonde Redhead fans (and more) will revel in this first solo album from Kazu Makino whose distinctive, hushed vocals have played a major role in shaping that band's atmospheric sound. “Salty” is quietly stirring with warped synths and a pattering beat much like a Thom Yorke song – which makes sense because the album personnel includes Mauro Refosco of Atoms For Peace, as well as Ruichi Sakamoto and Son Lux drummer Ian Chang. “Meu” is intriguingly sparse and vulnerable, bursting into swells of baroque pop strings at just the right moment.
